Application Process
Overview
The application process: Our application process takes approximately eight months to complete. We carefully review each proposal and get to know potential grantees and their objectives; we may require considerable information about the organization and the proposed project. We fund well-managed organizations with programs that set high standards.
We use an online application process divided into two stages:
Stage I: Project Profile Form. We ask you to submit a Project Profile Form (PPF) through our online application system. If your project does not address our strategic objectives or in any other way is considered ineligible for Peru Opportunity Fund support, we will notify you within three weeks. If your project does meet our objectives, a program staff member will contact you and work with you to help you address any questions or concerns. The board will review your PPF, including preliminary project budget and other relevant information we have gathered. If the board accepts your PPF, we will invite you to submit a full application.
Stage II: Full Application. Our online application system provides you with our application forms, including templates for an impact matrix form and detailed budget worksheet. Peru Opportunity Fund staff may work with you on designing your evaluation plan. You will have about two months to complete and submit the full application. Board members will review and study your full application before they make a funding decision. In most cases, we will conduct a site visit prior to funding approval.
After Funding
Monitoring and evaluation:
We work hand-in-hand with grantees to monitor the impact of each grantee’s project. We are a learning institution and want to share in the advances, setbacks, expected and unexpected outcomes from your project.

In addition to your internal evaluation plan, we may be interested in doing an external evaluation of your project. We want evaluations to be beneficial to everyone, including our grantees, and for that reason expect your participation and cooperation.
Financial accountability: We work closely with grantees and require expenditure responsibility guidelines be followed, if applicable.
Site visits: Staff and Trustees of Peru Opportunity Fund will request site visits to see your progress and learn from your project.
External communications: Once you become a Peru Opportunity Fund grantee, we will ask your permission to use case studies, photos, beneficiary and grantee profiles, project evaluations, etc. as part of our external communications program. We'd like to promote your organization and your successes in our annual report and other communications.
BEFORE APPLYING please make sure you've read our application guidelines.
