We receive many requests for funding and believe that these guidelines will help you understand what types of projects and partners we support so that the application process is efficient for both our organizations.

Organization Criteria:

We will only consider funding organizations with the following legal status:

  • 501(c)3 tax status or a foreign not-for-profit equal to a 501(c)3 as determined via equivalency determination; OR
  • An organization with adequate financial, legal and project information to perform IRS-mandated expenditure responsibility.

At a minimum, we expect our grantee partners to have strong leadership, a track record of results, sound organizational structure, and a willingness to learn and share what they learn.

We like to build relationships over time with our grantees. If you have not worked with us before, we limit our funding to no more than 50 percent of your project’s budget.

Project Criteria:

We are looking for grantee partners who work with small scale farmers to help them overcome barriers to producing more from their land and earning more from their crops. Specifically, we are looking for projects that:

1)    Bring relevant information to small farmers that will help them improve their yields, increase their incomes, and contribute to long-term soil fertility; and

2)    Provide access to appropriate environmentally-friendly technologies that increase productivity.
